Five Great Gifts for Families

If there’s a family you know well then you may want to give them an extra special gift this Christmas, or any other time for that matter. It’s not always easy to decide what to get anyone when buying gifts, never mind deciding what to get a whole family group. In case you’re struggling for what to get, then use this handy list for five gift ideas for families this Christmas:

Electronic Goods

If you’ve been to a friend’s house and noticed that they’re missing something like a DVD player, then Christmas could be a great time to make a family the purchase they need. Many electronic goods actually come as a cheap option these days, with Currys’ range of DVD players starting at just £24.99. Meanwhile, digital radios come in at £39.99, and a digital TV receiver just £19.99. They’re all gifts that the whole family can enjoy at low prices.

Family Portrait

Unless they’ve got one already, a family portrait can make an absolute cracker of a gift to families. It will almost certainly be appreciated by the parents, while a family photo is something to hang on the wall and keep for a very long time, so it could mean a lot. Prices depend on the studio that you buy for, but they don’t normally come cheaper than £50, and you can expect to pay up to £200 for a big set. Just make sure that you shop around the internet for the best deal, and make sure the studio isn’t too far away.

An Experience

You could buy family tickets to a theme park or the theatre for the New Year, or maybe you want to go for a more original and potentially unique experience. Companies like Red Letter days have a massive amount of experiences on offer, and plenty for families too. However, you’re likely to have to pay at least £50 for any family experience, probably more. If you book a family theme park entrance tickets online outside of season, however, there is likely to be a huge discount compared to normal gate prices, so it’s a good way to appear very generous!

Christmas Hampers

The vast majority of Christmas hampers contain alcohol of some sort, usually a fine wine or port. This will definitely keep mummy and daddy entertained unless they’re teetotal – but what about the kids? Well, there are a lot of hampers that can offer a bit more than grown up goodies. Check out hampers that contain chocolate and other sweet foods and you’re sure to have a winner for children as well. See the Interflora website for a great selection of  Christmas hampers.

Personalised Gifts

If you know the family particularly well, and you have an idea of what each of them would like, then buying them each a personalised gift may be a very good option. Be careful though, because kids can be hard to please with something that they’ve never seen before or they don’t understand. If you get them something nice with they’re name on though, they should appreciate it, and they might even hold it particularly dear if you’re careful about your selection.
