A Family Affair

Chelmsford based fashion designer Jane Praver is just launching her own range of stylish babywear for the 0-twos. The clothes are manufactured from 100 per cent superior cotton, half-lined for babies' comfort and beautifully hand-finished by a tiny family business in Istanbul.

Applying 14 years of fashion designing experience designing children's wear for M&S, Mothercare, BHS, Disney Stores and Woolworths, to name but a few, Jane's new up-market, funky trend and highly-fashioned brand, Crib, will be launched onto the international market at the end of November in the time for Christmas.

The Crib clothing range includes t-shirts and bodies, all with exquisite hand embroidery and appliqué work and decidedly huggable teddies.

Jane has been working on the unique designs since 2003. She said: "As a mother of a small child, i have been aware for a long time of the need for something different in the baby wear market. What we have achieved at Crib is design that oozes style and simplicity with an emphasis on quality fabric and quality workmanship. I am also very excited by our partnership with the Turkish cottage industry that is working with us to produce Crib clothing. This family is using skills and craftsmanship passed down through generations. It is a joy to work with them and to feel that, in some small way, we are supporting the continuation of this traditional family business."

Children's charity The Foresters' Fund for Children, which raises money nationally and re-distributes funds to small, less well-known baby and children's charities at a local level is also set to benefit. Managing director of Crib and its parent company Big Teapot Ltd said: "Supporting The Foresters' Fund means that Crib will be helping children all over the country via small organisations and charities that often don't get the support they need. We also hope, through our association with the fund, that more baby and children's charities will get to know about this source of funding.

Our commitment takes us beyond the money we have pledged to give to the Fund. We are actively spreading the word by contacting some of these charities ourselves to make them aware of The Foresters' Fund grants programme.

Crib baby clothes can be bought online at www.cribonline.co.uk from November 30. Crib will donate £1 to The Foresters' Fund for Children for every £20 spend.
